Happy New Year 2012!!

Only about 10 minutes left of 2011 so here is a quick run down of my year:

1. Tommy got in a big accident on January 4th, 2011
2. Tommy turned 23 on January 8th...though he was unconscious
3. Amy ran 4 miles in the North Shore Love Run with Emily- go team Sweathearts :)
4. Amy turned 23 in May!
5. Amy switched grades...went from part-time Kindergarten to full time 2nd Grade
6. Megan asked Amy to be her Matron of Honor!!
7. Tommy and Amy got married on 6/17/11 and it was so fun and beautiful! (AND 6+11=17)
8. Tommy and Amy went to Riveria Maya Mexico for a week on honeymoon :)
9. Oct- had a fun Halloween night with friends and scary movies (must do next year...)
10. Nov- had first Thanksgiving together as married couple
11. Dec- had first Christmas together as married couple (with real tree!)
12. Amy signed up to run a half marathon in July! Rock and Roll Marathon here I come!
13. Tommy got a new car
14. Amy and Tommy started looking for a house together and signed a 7 month lease!

Crazy, hard, fun, beautiful, trying, fantastic year :)

So Emily and I went to hot yoga today and it was fab. It was also very HOT. When we left, we were soaked with sweat, but it felt good! And somehow my hip is feeling better too :)

Waaaay Overdue

So I've decided to join the 52 Lists/52 Weeks challenge put out to the world by this lovely blog getthewordsout. My sister, Katy, was a guest blogger on the blog and I figured what a great time to jump on the bandwagon.

I'm a little late, but here goes nothin'.....

Week 8- Ways to be a Great Companion

1. Communicate how you feel, what you need, what you want.
2. Listen to what your companion feels, needs, and wants.
3. Compromise!
4. Don't interrupt (I have a problem with this that I am reallllly trying to work on)
5. Don't be afraid to show that person how much you like/love them.
6. Call more often to see how they are doing
7. Make the drive. It's worth it!

That's all I got for now. There is probably more, but I'm still learning :)

Tagxedo

I have started this project on Tagxedo to make different word clouds because I want to frame them for the family room! I have already made one about family and shaped it into a family tree  (give it a try katy, it’s fun! I’m telling you since you are my only reader   )

Nesting

Even though my husband (so excited to finally be able to say that after almost 7 years of being together!) and I have lived in this apartment for a year and a half, I never really felt like this place was home. Yes, I referred to it as my “home” when speaking to other people, but I always felt like it was temporary. Well not anymore! I have decided to decorate it to take more ownership of it. I think registering for our wedding helped me to do this. My husband, Tommy, is a numbers kind of guy and has always been very good at setting and maintaining our long term goals. Most recently, this has been to possibly buy a house or a townhome or condo of some kind. Haha. So after running the numbers (Well, after watching the Kardashians on tv while Tommy ran the numbers…) I have decided that I might as well make this place a little more homey since we will be here at least another year. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter where we are, but I want it to feel like home!

a new week

So it's a new week and I have some new crafty things to try out. Today my friend Laura and I went shopping at the hob lob to get me some crafty supplies for my crafty things. I am pretty stoked to start making things.

Here is a list of my crafty ventures. They include (but are not limited to) the following:

1. a *yarn wreath. My sister made one for our apartment that is just fab and makes me feel eco chic.  
2. a fabric flower for a headband
3. felt flowers for headbands
4. a menu board for the kitchen
5. a ruffle flower shirt

Some of these items even include my new sewing machine! *gasp* 

(aren't you just so proud of my crafty aspirations katydid??)

Oh blahging.

When I think back, I’ve been doing this since 2004 on various trendy sites of the moment. It started with Xanga. I remember signing up because some of my friends did and I thought it would be cool….and it was for a hot second until myspace showed up. Then I created one of those but didn’t use it much. When Facebook popped up, I was all over it because it was only for people who had .edu emails. I stayed with it through all of the changes (letting anyone have an account, crazy applications, appearance changes, checking into places, etc.) and now it’s an integral part of my life, lol. Even though Twitter came along, and I created an account (of course!) I’m still stuck on Facebook. I thought creating one of these blogs would be very 21st century of me……so I did it!

It’s less about having everyone read it, and more about alleviating some of the pain I get when trying to write a million words down on paper. I wonder if this site will be just another blog that I did to be in on the trend or if it will stick?

(P.s.- i started this on wordpress....but it's just too hard to use!)
